My question is: She is looking to get an apartment with me since my lease is up, our parents are moving out of state, and we have no other family or friends that have room to take her in. I have no prior evictions so would a landlord look at the application and be willing to rent to us if one of us has eviction history and the other does not? Her credit history is only messy around the time of her eviction, meaning she has a charge off on one credit card for $400, which she paid in full and another charge off for her car, which they repossessed (yes I know its a lot, but I’m not writing to have people judge her, so please only answer the questions) She has been up to date and paying in advance all of her bills for the last six months, since she got a new job. We compared credit reports so I know exactly what is on hers. My credit is excellent. Please only serious answers. We are looking to rent in a complex and are trying to avoid renting a single family home. However, if that is our best option, we will take it. Thank you in advance!

I live in Los Angeles and work a full time job and have another part time job on the side. However, even with that, money is still very tight. Under normal circumstances, I am able to make ends meet every month, but I rarely have much of anything left over.
However, the last few months have been filled with a string of family financial problems.
My parents are close to foreclosing on their house and the my dad was laid off. Consequently, I have had to help my parents pay their mortgage and bills. It is deeply saddening to see them in that state and has been horribly embarrassing for my parents to have to ask me for money.
All in all, I make about 2100/month, including tips. I pay about 950 in rent and utilities and 75 for students loans. Then there’s insurance, food, and some expensive prescriptions thrown in.
However, because I have had to give my parents a substantial chunk of money each of the last few months (and pay my brothers rent when he couldn’t, last month), i have been left with just barely enough for rent this month.
I don’t have any credit cards or a car. After college I had a hard time paying students loans and they went into default. However, they gave me a one time opportunity to pay my way out of default and clear my record. I did that and am back in good standing. However, this is still on my credit history (something that I have filed a claim about).
Due to my own stupidity, I am facing a very big need for $1500 ASAP. This morning when I went to the DMV to apply for my CA license (from Nevada), I found out that I have an outstanding ticket from more than a year ago. I want to kick myself.
Basically, I need to have a license that is valid (and warrant free) because my full time job requires me to run errands on a daily basis…and because I would like to avoid jail time! I called the courthouse and if I pay the ticket amounting to around $1500. it will be done with and I can get my California license and be legal and move on.
However, I just don’t have it. I don’t have anything even close to it. Nor do my friends or family members. If I owned anything that was of any value, I would sell it.
I can’t come up with a fast solution. I have read lot’s of horror stories about payday loans and 90 day installment loans and the last thing that I want to do is get back in over my head and spiral back in default. It was a terrible feeling.
Is there any other reasonable solution? And if taking a payday loan is the only answer, how do I avoid shady practices?
Lastly, in order to compare payday loan’s, it appears that I have to fill out the forms with my info on their websites. Is this something that the credit bureau’s see? I don’t want to negatively impact my credit score by simply “applying” online to see quotes.
Thank you for taking the time to read this long post!
Best,
K
-My sister gets to use my parents credit cards to buy clothing, when i only get a 150 a year.. Which really isnt that much its like 2 pairs of pants and a sweater.
-My sister has 2 computers and internet in her room.. I have a broken computer and most use my dads to use the internet. (they bought both of them for her)
-They are giving my sister one of the cars now so i wont have a ride to skool. This means a 30-40min walk every mornin.. which isnt bad but i live in canada it goes down to -40* C
-My sister is allowed to break every single rule and not gt grounded. (hours late past cerfew, boys in her room)
-My mom makes me do dishes every night while my sister watches Tv.
My parents have told me they wish i didnt live with them.. ive told them i can go live with my boyfriend.. but they wont let me..
Im 16. Do they have a choice.. can i just leave.. Im tired of being treated unfairly..
Not to mention wen im sick and should go to the doctor or be in the hospital they wont take me.. I was very sick a few months ago and we called the nurses of ontario and they said i should bring me to the hosptial my mom said NO because she had to wrk the next day..
He has to provide for four people, me, my little sister, my mom (his ex-wife), and himself
Yes my mom should be providing for herself, but she can’t get a job
She recently got out of school and she could be an LPN now, she has 3 years experience from when we lived in the US
But she hasn’t heard anything from where she applied
My dad has been looking for part time and has applied at about 6 places now, multiple times
He hasn’t heard anything
He’s over $2000+ in debt with the credit card company and BC Hydro
We have no heat in our house and winter is coming, up here it can get to about 30 below zero, making our house uninhabitable unless we have heat, but my dad owes BC Hydro over $700.
He can’t keep up with the rent, it’s about $750 a month
I can’t get a job because I don’t have a SIN, or any picture ID, plus I wasn’t born in Canada, I was born in the US
I’m only 13 and I don’t know what to do
I wish I could help with money and stuff but I can’t since I can’t get a job
All I do is worry about money, and it really interferes with school
Some days I don’t want to get out of bed because I feel awful
Sometimes I think it’d be better if I just died, then I wouldn’t be such an expense and I wouldn’t have to worry anymore
I have anxiety attacks at night, and it takes me hours to fall asleep
I’m always so scared that we’ll get evicted
Or that we’ll freeze to death in the winter or something
Or that it’ll be like this forever, always struggling
All the kid’s parents at my school make so much money, most of them are very wealthy people and don’t have to worry about a thing
I have no one to relate to and there’s nothing I can do to help anything or make anything better
There’s a little hope in my mom getting a job since she’d be making over $20 an hour, compared to my dad’s $15 an hour so that isn’t bad
But she’s only applied to one place and it’s been 2 or 3 weeks and she hasn’t heard anything
She’s never motivated to do anything, she’s an alcoholic and a huge pothead plus she’s been unemployed for years
If somehow my mom magically gets a job then I don’t think I’ll worry anymore, but I don’t see that happening
She needs someone to push her all the time or she’d never get anything done
I’m sooo scared I don’t know what to do at all everything’s so awful I can’t imagine it being any worse but it is getting worse and that scares me so much
What do I do? Is there ANYTHING I could do?
Also I didn’t know where to put this question…
I owe 14,000 in credit card debt
17,000 in school loans
and my car I owe 20,000
I bought my car in 2007
I graduated in 2007
I was thinking about getting an equity loan to help pay down my credit card and upgrade our bathrooms they are in not usable condition currently.
My car is new and the blue book value is less than the car it would be stupid for me to sell at this point. The interest rate is pretty low…I have the credit card debt because I moved out of my parents house at 18 and got married at 21 alot of that is just getting items I needed to live furniture, food, and of course the wedding made a dent. I know it’s bad. It *****.
I’m 25 now and trying to clean everything up…this is gonna take forever. Dang it!
