Hi All. I’m a recent college grad who is fairly new to the workforce and is ready to get rid of her credit card debt!! I was fortunate enought not to borrow much in student loans (a total of about $9,000), however by grad time I owed about 9 thousand in credit card debt. Now I am ready to get rid of this burden. I know that this sounds horrible, but my situation was very different than that of the average student. I am a mother and was raising my daughter the whole time during college. Instead of working full time I focused on my studies and only worked part time. Needless to say this made everything harder but in the end it was worth it. Also, I’m not looking for an overnight solution. It took me six years to accumulate this debt so I know it wont disappera overnight. I’m just looking for the best way to go about it. Please help!

I had some things happen to me, and depending on my cards for a while. I am only 1,750k in debt, which is really nothing compared to a lot of people. I am living on my own trying to save save save, and get rid of my credit card debts. I am wondering exactly what I need to say when I call the companies. I don’t want to get bullied around, and I have never done this before. I only have two cards. I know the steps, but I dont know what to say when I call. Thanks in advance!
wizjp.. I have a full-time job and I make plenty of money. I had a family emergency and wasn’t able to work for about 6 months. I am not that much in debt, but I cannot pay it all off at once. I go to school full-time and work full-time, I can’t get a part time job!

1. I have 5 thousand dollars of credit card debt.
Compared to other 27 year olds, do you think I have an outrageous amount of credit card debt?
I live at home. I do not have a car payment. I have no idea where my money has been going. Anyway, what % of my paycheck should go to these credit cards?

We have a debt on a credit card with a16.99% APR. I received an offer to transfer this to another card with 0% for 6 months, thereafter 3.99% until paid off. Of course there is the 3% transfer fee. I can calculate what impact this will be on the monthly interest (including the 3% transfer rate), but how do I determine the monthly payments and compare if this makes sense to do (specifically the cost of the transfer vs the savings in long term interest)? Thanks.
