yeah, cuz you need to have an account for itunes, which requires that you give your credit card number. But don’t worry, they won’t charge anything that’s free or that you didn’t buy. Apple’s pretty reliable.

Technically you do. If you want to download apps you must create an iTunes Store account which requires a valid credit card number. They do not however charge you for anything unless you purchase something.
