I am kind of thinking that credit cards and credit had a role to play in job losses and people not being able to pay their bills that used credit such as maxing out cards for everything and going into debt and not being able to pay it back.

My credit card company closed my account because they said that the information on my original application for income didn’t match the information that got from the IRS and decided to close my account. I really don’t care because I have pretty good credit and have other credit cards. I was wondering if this would hurt my credit. They said I can continue to pay like I normally would.

I am a trader of textiles, maintaining a good balance in my savings account and have a good credit history of more than one year. I am going to apply for a lot of credit cards as well as personal loans. What general precautions should be taken so that I may be able to get maximum number of credit cards and loans with good credit limits?

In the past 5 years i have been a victim of fraud, i been clearing my credit writing letter and explaining about the fraud. in january this year in my credit came up chase credit card that was opened on 2002, and a company that bought the account called unifund, the police and the experian company told me to write a letter with explanation and with the proof of the fraud, i also demanded a copy of the original contract with my signature, they just wrote me a letter demanding the money and they compare the signature and they said it was mine but they never sent me the proof. How can I dispute this all the rest company erased the fraud and they are the only ones that do not want to help.

In college I got a little out of control with credit cards, and had 3 cards that went to collection agencies. Since then (about 2-3 years) I have paid off the balances, and opened a new card that I make regular payments on. I just reviewed my credit report and the cards that were sent to the agencies were listed as “negative items” (not surprising). However, it said they are “scheduled to continue on record” until 2012 or 2013. Does that mean this will affect my credit until then? The balances have been paid off for sometime. Having these appear on my credit report for 8 years seems excessive; I thought it was something like 3-5 years.
As I get closer to 2012, will they at least affect my credit less negatively? Also, compared to the 3 accounts in negative standing, I have 16 in good standing (new card/student loans). How badly is this going to affect my credit?
