I **** credit cards eversince, but here in the US I need to use it since it’s one way of building your credit history otherwise you won’t be able to buy high priced items like house & lot, cars etc. since they’ll look for a credit history.

I have a few credit cards that at one time I used but not longer use because I try to keep a 0% interest card and use that.

My question is should I close these cards? They all have $0 balances on them but I do not want to hurt my credit score by doing this.

I heard somewhere that some credit cards can damage your credit even if you pay on time and more than the minimum balance. Is this true? What kind of credit cards would be like this? Thanks for your help!

Chase
CitiBank
Bank of America

These three seem to be the best of the banks out there right now and this is going to be my first credit card.
I’ve looked through all those sites comparing this card and that for college students, but its all rubbish to me.
So can anyone with cards from the banks speak up and put all that bank jargon to layman’s term.
Right now I’m sort of favoring Chase, but others have told me that they are strict and have high interest rate percentages.

Everybody knows using a credit card at the ATM or bank will qualify the transaction as a cash advance and cash advances carry a rather high rate. However today I heard a bit on the news;how to make money off of the credit card companies rather than them making it off of you. It featured some investment guru who talked about using available balances on credit cards for investments that have a higher rate of return than the credit card carries. I have a 0% until July 2007 with plenty to invest if I decided to do this, but how would I avoid the cash advance rate if it would be regarded as cash? Are there any investments that would list the transaction as a purchase? Please help, I am confused.

I am REALLY bad with credit cards and have racked up about $16000.00 in debt on 3 cards and the payments are $615.00 a month. If I consolidate I can save about $300 a month but I dont want to do it if it puts a dent in my report because I have really good credit.

Hello. I have a great credit score as of now, but things will certainly change once I fall to foreclosure on my home. 1) Will I lose my existing credit cards? 2) Will I be able to get new ones?

Also, does anyone know how many points you lose with forclosure?
Thank you.

My college does not accept credit card payments. I would like to earn frequent flier points to travel home at holidays by earning points somehow when i pay tuition. Is there any way to do this? We have multiple frequent flier credit cards.
